We are living under the exceptional circumstances where the entire planet is threatened. Cultivating a select few to attain eternal bliss is less important than the coming together of the good people to save the earth. This will effect many future generations. It's a mistake to think that only in the past were great prophets and avataras. The great souls come repeatedly into the world to continue working for the suffering people. In the past people were all greater than now. Still the great souls appear againunder the conditions of nowso we are unable to recognise them and mistakenly think they are less great.
They reappear.. or different souls come empowered by them... but born under the conditions of now...
In any case: Religion has a big dividing line, and that is cow killing. It includes any kind of merciless slaughter of animals in slaughter houses! Small scale hunting by native peoples, of lesser animals (not cows) and not using guns or factory fishing ships can still be religious in my opinion. It's not necessary though if there is enough veggie food available. But in general animals which are gentle and domesticated and have other valuable uses, such as sheep, goats, horses and especially cows and bulls etc should never on any grounds be killed.
I don't very much care what your religion is and who your guru is so long as you are not cow killing or buying into the slaughterhouse nightmare because I think that is actually condemned in every religion anyway if you understand properly their original teachings.
